Set Adrift

"Set Adrift"

The wind was peppered with a gulls cry
As her hair bounced loosely
Upon her shoulders

She stood alone
Challenging the world
Dressed for the occasion

Her thoughts were swallowed by loneliness
Who will catch me if jump?
She whispered with a sad smile

Her tears fell into the void
Tracing a well traveled path upon her cheeks

Her panicked heart beat began to slow
Calm replaced ache
It was an epiphany

When the wind faltered and stopped
Only silence remained

Weakness

"Weakness"

Take me to the point
Where I wish to forget
Lips on mine
Whispers in my ear
Crystal blue eyes enslaving me

Moisten me so that I can deny
That you lie

Quicken my heart over and over
Even though
I know you will shatter it

Come back
Again and again
Even when banished
By my friends
By you
By me

Arouse the sin in me
The one that allows me to be ignorant

I know you hurt
You cause my soul to bleed
You are arsenic
And yet
I want you
Behind the bookstore
On the echoed stairway
In my bed
Screaming
Aching
Both
Wanting
For you to leave
And to come again

perfect moments in color

"perfect moments in color"

my feet dangled
in the soft wet water
as she slept on my lap
this was tomorrow
our forever
the perfect love
even with the sun fading
i knew
i would never forget this color of blue

Assassin

"Assassin"

I was normal
Alone
Happy

In one moment
That life ended
And I was no more

She became my world
Controlled my heart
Teased my desire

She destroyed who I was
And I couldn’t be more thankful

Spare Time

"Spare Time"

I wish I could recycle my littered minutes
Not the ones wasted on day dreaming
Those are well spent
I want the ones that slip by unnoticed

Can you see the corporation
Hired men like highway cleanup crews

Follow behind
During the day
Unnoticed
As a minute slips by truly wasted
They stab it with their sticks
As if it were a piece of trash
Blowing down the road

Eventually
You are presented with a monthly fee
A percentage price
For a substantial block of time
Of life gone by

You empty your wallet
In exchange for a box of
Recycled minutes

Imagine life
Imagine what you could do with these minutes

Do I extend a great evening
on the town
Or give to doctors
Who could have used just a second more

Do I share
Giving a soldier that extra chance
Does some of it go into the offering plate
Can I last longer in the sack
The possibilities would be endless

I wish I could recycle my littered minutes
Not the ones just wasted
On this day dream
Those are well spent
I want the ones that slip by unnoticed
