"Mermaid"
She beckons with a smile so perfect
Teasing me through a dangerous path
And though I know better
I find myself wanting for her touch
Needing to taste her tongue
Giving into her taunt
Her eyes send my heart racing
Her laugh catches my breath
She is forbidden fruit
Yet we waltz
Slow and careful
On an invisible dance floor
She makes me notice sunflowers
They were once nothing more than weeds
She walks from my day time imaginings
Right through my night time dreams
She could be my undoing
But I don’t care
She is my mermaid
One that will poison me with the perfect kiss
Before dragging me over the edge and into the abyss
Ask me if I care afterwards
For now
I can’t get to her fast enough
